Algeria Preparing to Celebrate Holy Prophet’s Birth, Nat’l Quran Week

ALGIERS (IQNA) – Algeria’s minister of Awqaf and religious affairs in a meeting with the ministry’s managers discussed holding ceremonies to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

They also talked about preparations for holding the country’s national Quran week, which will be the 25h edition of the even this year, Algeria Online website reported.

Youcef Belmehdi, the Awqaf minister, ordered the relevant officials to make sure the celebrations and the Quranic event are organized in the best way.

He also ordered honoring Quran memorizers and talented poets during the celebrations.

The 25th edition of the national Quran week of Algeria will include a Quran competition, whose preliminary round has already begun.

Over 200 contestants compete in the categories of Quran memorization, recitation and Tafseer (interpretation).

There is also a separate competition for women in the category of Quran memorization.

Every year, Muslims all over the world hold various ceremonies and programs in the month of Rabi al-Awwal (started on September 17) to celebrate the birth anniversary of the last messenger of God.
