IQNA – An Arab American group says Washington’s support for the Israeli regime could lead to a regional war as Iran launched its retaliatory attack against the regime.

The Arab American Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) has said that US President Joe Biden’s unconditional backing of Israel is weakening the US on the global stage and making it “ineffective” in advocating global norms.

“The Biden administration’s unwillingness to end Israel’s six month long genocide in Gaza, and the complete disregard for United States and international law, is a major reason for the dangerous escalation in the region this evening,” the group said in a statement.

“Longstanding US policy of impunity and unconditional support for Israel is what has brought us to the brink of a much larger, and very deadly regional war. Enabling Israel’s genocide and regional hubris beyond Gaza is walking the region into total devastation.”

The statement comes as the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps launched a massive drone and missile operation against occupied territories on Saturday in response to Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus on April 1.

“On 14 April 2024, the Islamic Republic of Iran's armed forces have carried out a series of military strikes on Israeli's military bases in response to, and in exercise of its inherent right of self-defense as recognized under Article 51 of the Charter,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced in an official statement.

It noted that the attack was in response to “Israel's recurring military aggressions, resulting in the martyrdom of the Iranian military advisors present in Syria at the invitation of the Syrian government.”

Emboldened by the unflinching US support, the occupation regime has been pounding the besieged Gaza Strip since October 7, killing more than 33,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children.

Washington has provided the regime with military aid while also backing the regime politically by vetoing UN Security Council resolutions.
