TEHRAN (IQNA) – Acting upon Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) teachings is the best way to stand against social maladies, a senior cleric said.

Hojat-ol-Islam Ahmad Marvi, The custodian of Imam Reza (AS) shrine in Mashhad

Hojat-ol-Islam Ahmad Marvi, The custodian of Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine in Mashhad, northeast Iran, made the remark in an event held in Imam Khomeini Portico of the holy shrine to celebrate Eid al-Maba’ath, which marks the appointment of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as the last messenger of God.

The cleric called an aimless and wandering society a decadent one, saying: “Those who are detached from truth, and Quranic and religious teachings, and do not strive for their moral growth, are wandering and purposeless souls incapable of distinguishing between good and evil”.

Stressing that the Holy Quran was revealed to the Holy Prophet by the angel Gabriel to save humankind from aimless wandering, Hojat-ol-Islam Marvi noted: “The Prophet’s Infallible Household, as a continuation of the revelation, is responsible for saving mankind from pointless straying, and key to guide humans from ignorance to prosperity”.

He resembled 1979 Islamic Revolution to a breeze of Quranic teachings in Iran, stating: “The Islamic Revolution has been the continuation of the revelation, at a time when human communities are suffering from oppression, depravity, moral decadence, and brutality”.

He further pointed to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s remarks that called the most important impact of the Revolution as ‘saving the Iranian nation from obliteration by the West’, adding: “ The Islamic Revolution saved the Iranian nation from the onslaughts of the Western culture, which is corrupted with immoral, lustful and cruel behavior; the danger is not over though”.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he called the dissemination of moral values in society as the Greater Jihad, lamenting lack of Quranic teachings in today’s society. “There are a lot of shortcomings when it comes to spreading these teachings across society. Islam is not only about reading the Holy Quran and saying prayers; rather implementing those teachings is of greater value,” he said.
