TEHRAN (IQNA) – Egypt’s Al-Azhar Islamic Center’s Quranic affairs department said it will expand the activities of its affiliate Quran memorization centers.

The department said it plans to enhance and develop the centers’ activities and programs, Akhbar el-Youm website reported.

There are also plans to introduce new Quran teaching methods at the centers, it added.

Moreover, there will be stricter supervision of how the Quran teaching centers are run, the department noted.

Recently, the Quranic affairs department of Al-Azhar organized a forum to discuss ways for encouraging students to learn and memorize the Quran.

The participants also exchanged views on how to help students’ Quranic talents flourish.

Al-Azhar has recently strived to develop its Quran-related activities in the centers affiliated to it all over Egypt.

Among the programs it has implemented is one aimed at enhancing the skills of Quran teachers, especially in the field of recitation.

Al-Azhar is the largest Islamic center of education and university associated with Al-Azhar Mosque.

It was founded in 972 by the Fatimid Caliphate as a center of Islamic learning.
