The mourning rituals were organized by the Shia Religious Society of Jammu and Kashmir headed by Seyed Hassan al-Mousawi al-Safawi and Seyed Muhammad Hadi al-Mousawi al-Safawi, as well as other religious groups.
Thousands of the region’s Muslims attended the events, including the one hosted by the society’s Husseiniya (religious center).
They recited the Quran and listened to elegies lamenting the martyrdom of the first Imam (AS).
Speakers at the ceremonies highlighted Imam Ali’s (AS) services to Islam and his self-sacrifices on the path of the religion and in protection of Muslim unity.
Shia Muslims and others in different parts of the world hold mourning ceremonies every year on the 21st day of the holy month of Ramadan, which marks the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Ali (AS).
