Iraqi National Security Advisor Says Operations against Daesh Will Continue
TEHRAN (IQNA) – Highlighting the recent victories on Daesh in the Diyala Governorate, Iraq’s National Security Advisor said the country’s security system has no choice but to continue operations against the terrorist group.
Qassem Al-Araji made the remark during a trip to the eastern governorate after announcement was made about a major victory against Daesh.
He said the chain of victories against Daesh that has begun in Diyala will not cease.
Al-Araji also held meetings with security and intelligence officials of the province.
Talib al-Mousavi, the commander of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU, also known as Hashd al-Sha’abi), on Saturday announced the dismantling of the largest Daesh network in Diyala.
He said Daesh had planned to carry out terrorist operations against civilians in Diyala but failed with a pre-emptive operation implemented by the PMU and security and army forces.
