TEHRAN (IQNA) – The custodian of the mausoleum of Imam Reza (AS) said protecting the health of the holy shrine’s pilgrims is a high priority.

According to Astan News, Hojat-ol-Islam Ahmad Marvi held a telephone conversation with Iranian Health Minister Saeed Namaki on the latest information and efforts to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.

He said protecting the health of pilgrims is a top priority amid the spread of the disease.

“We are ready to act on the policies set by the Health Ministry in order to take the required steps and prevention measures,” Marvi said.

Namaki, for his part, thanked the Astan Quds Razavi, the custodianship of Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine, and stressed the ministry’s readiness to cooperate with the Astan to ensure the health of the pilgrims and citizens of Mashhad.

The death toll from the COVID-19 infection in Iran rose to eight on Sunday, and the total number of confirmed cases to 43, according to Kianoosh Janahpoor, the head of the Health Ministry’s public relations.

Iran has formed a national mobilization plan dubbed “We Will Beat Corona” and has established headquarters across the country, the minister added.

The health authorities say all public places and means of public transportation are being disinfected on a daily basis amid the coronavirus outbreak.
