Liberation of Palestine Should Be Muslim World’s Priority
Sheikh Naim Qassem made the remark in an address to the 28th International Islamic Unity Conference, which kicked off in Tehran on Wednesday morning.
He added that the issue of Palestine is only resolved through resistance and that no one should pin hopes to the decisions of the UN Security Council or to conferences and seminars.
Sheikh Qassem referred to the issue of Takfiris as one of the challenges of the Islamic world, stressing that Takfirism has nothing to do with Shia or Sunni Islam.
He further said the enemies of Islam seek to foment discord and disunity among Muslims and attribute the differences to religious issues whereas the root cause of differences is political not religious.
The Lebanese figure went on to stress the significance of Islamic unity and said holding the Tehran conference is a step toward strengthen unity in the Muslim world.
The three-day International Islamic Unity Conference is underway in Tehran with the participation of representatives from 65 countries.
