Eminent Egyptian Quran Reciter Dies

Prominent Egyptian Qari (Quran reciter) Master Abdel Aziz Akasha has died.

According to a report published by the website of the Supreme Quran Council, Akasha died at the age of 65 in Egypt.

Born in 1948, he was a graduate of Al-Azhar Islamic University in the field of Islamic theology.

He was among the golden generation of Egyptian Qaris along with masters such as Abolainain Shoaisha, Shahat Muhammad Anwar, and Muhammad Al-Hilbawi.

Master Akasha visited Iran three times in his lifetime. His first visit was in 2011 when he recited verses from the Holy Quran in the presence of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution.

In his second trip to the country Akasha was quoted as saying that in no other country had he seen a leader listen to the Quran so attentively.
