Center for Prevention of Extremism Opens in Kyrgyzstan

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Kyrgyzstan's State Commission for Religious Affairs (SCRA) announced that a center has been set up to supervise religious activities in the country and prevent spread of extremism.

According to taghribnews.com, it was announced in a meeting of Arazbek Maldaliyev, the head of the commission, with Almazbek Atambayev, the President of Kyrgyzstan, on December 7.

Maldaliyev said that the new center’s activities are administered by the commission aiming to supervise religious affairs in Kyrgyzstan.

Stressing the necessity of the establishment of such centers, the Kyrgyz president said that religious activities should be developed particularly in today’s world.

The commission has announced that there are more than 2400 religious organizations in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan.

The country has also more than 1700 mosques, 10 Islamic universities, 70 Islamic schools, 69 Islamic centers, and 378 Christian institutes.
