Summer Quran Classes Begin in Turkey’s Mosques

Mosques all over Turkey are hosting the classes for school and university students, according to Diyanet, tr.agency website reported.

Ali Erbas, head of Diyanet, and a number of local officials and people attended the ceremony held in the city of Manisa in western Turkey.

In an address, Erbas described the Quran as the greatest divine miracle on earth and said God sent down the Holy Book to guide people from darkness to light.

Citing a Hadith from the Holy Prophet (PBUH) “The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it”, he said God likes those who learn and memorize the Quran.

Erbas added that summer Quranic courses provided precious opportunities for children to learn the teachings of the Quran, religious values and the path of goodness and beauty.

According to him, the courses are held for three age groups of 4 to 6, 6 to 14 and 14 to 2 and will run until August 26.

Turkey is a Muslim majority country in West Asia. Nearly 99 percent of the country's population adhere to Islam.
