Winners of the Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak International Holy Quran Competition were announced and awarded at the closing ceremony.
The panel of judges announced the representative of Bahrain, Sara Mohamed Abdullah Hasan Husaini, as the top winner. She went home with a prize money of Dh250,000.
Maimouna Lo from Senegal ranked second to win Dh200,000 and the third position and a prize of Dh150,000 were secured by Khaoula Azouz, Algeria.
Iran’s representative Zahra Khalili came fourth in the international Quranic event.
Born in 2005, Zahra is a visually-impaired memorizer of the entire Quran.
The international Quran competition for women had been underway in Dubai since November 4.
Women and girls from 63 countries took part in the contest to compete in the category of memorization of the Quran.
