According to Oman newspaper, the competition will be organized by the Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science (SQHCCS).
Those willing to participate in the competition should sign up by August 9.
The organizing committee announced that a larger number of participants is expected in this year’s Quranic event.
8 winners of each category will compete in the final stage, which will be held in late November.
Yusuf bin Muhammad Balushi, a member of the technical committee of the competition, said that 1226 male and female Quran memorizers have signed up at the website of the contest so far.
The Sultan Qaboos Holy Quran Memorization competition has been held since 1991, starting with the three categories of memorization of 5 Juzes (parts) of the Quran along with interpretation of one Juz, memorization of 5 Juzes with Tajweed and memorization of 3 Juzes with Tajweed.
The number of the categories increased to 9 in the next editions. The 27th edition of the national competition was held with 2156 contenders.
