65-Year- Old Man Memorizes Quran in 10 Months
Abdullah al-Jurjawi has been named the oldest memorizer of the entire Quran in Jeddah in the year 1438 Hijri (2016).
He says he would read pages from the Quran every day in his youth but started memorizing the Quran after retirement last year, Okaz Daily reported.
"Immediately after retirement, I went to Master Majid Bijash at Ahl al-Kahir Mosque and, thank God, could learn the Quran by heart in ten months.”
He has taken and successfully past a Qurna memorization test
by Khayrukum Quranic Scoeity in Jeddah.
The society plans to honor al-Jurjawi in a special ceremony in the near future.
The Holy Quran is the only religious Scripture that is memorized by its followers.
Innumerable persons in every Muslim community have memorized the Quran since the first day it was revealed.
The Quran has 30 Juzes (parts), 114 Surahs (chapters) and 6,236 verses.
