According to the network’s communications department, the competition’s preliminary stage was held in three eight-day periods and each time eight top participants made it to the semi-finals.
The 24 Qaris competing in the semifinals are from Qatar, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and Germany.
The phone-in Quran competition titled "Inna lil-Muttaqina Mafaza” (Indeed, for the righteous is attainment- Holy Quran, 78:31) began on the first night of the holy month of Ramadan.
It is broadcast live every night at 10:30 PM (Tehran time) on Al-Kawthar TV.
The participants who want to showcase their talents in recitation of the Holy Quran call the program and recite the verses specified by the panel of judges.
Members of the panel of judges of this year’s contest are from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Egypt and Lebanon.
The winner will be announced on the last day of Ramadan (June 25).
